Michael Leathers, an agent in Albuquerque, New Mexico, said his summer sales weren’t as high as he had hoped. So he put on his marketing cap and decided to give whoever buys his most recent listing $500 in free tacos.
The Pending Home Sales Index, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, declined 2.6 percent in August from July, NAR announced Wednesday. The index has fallen in four of the past five months and is now at its lowest reading since January 2016.
